The College of Liberal Arts provides students across the University broad foundational knowledge through in-depth study of the arts, humanities, and social sciences.\u00a0The College is committed to creating critical thinkers and engaged citizens within a free society and to preserving and enriching the culture of the region.<\/p>\n
The College of Liberal Arts supports the University mission by offering accredited degree programs in the arts, humanities, and social sciences and by providing students across campus with many of the general education requirements common to all degree programs. The College of Liberal Arts provides a challenging and supportive environment that promotes a comprehensive understanding of chosen major disciplines and the development of students\u2019 innate talents and creativity.<\/p>\n
An outstanding faculty shapes the teaching, research, creative work, and service of the College. The goal of members is to be:<\/p>\n
Several programs in the College have specialized National Accreditations. The Department of Art is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, the Department of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, and the Mass Communication Department is accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications.<\/p>\n
BACHELOR OF ARTS<\/strong><\/p>\n BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS<\/strong><\/p>\n BACHELOR OF INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES<\/strong><\/p>\n BACHELOR OF SCIENCE<\/strong><\/p>\n ASSOCIATE OF GENERAL STUDIES<\/strong><\/p>\n NON-DEGREE PRE-PROFESSIONAL<\/strong><\/p>\n Bachelor of Science Degree or Bachelor of Arts Degree Minimum Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n MINORS<\/strong><\/p>\n In addition to major fields of study that lead to the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree, the college offers a diversity of minor fields of study. To earn a minor, a student must complete 18-24 hours in the minor field. Further information, including the exact number of hours required for a particular minor, is provided under the Departments sections.<\/p>\n Art History minor <\/strong>– See Department of Art International Studies Minor<\/strong><\/p>\n The University awards a minor in International Studies which requires the successful completion of 18 semester hours to include History 151 and 15 semester hours to be chosen from the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Open Areas listed below. The fifteen (15) hours require successful completion of 6 semester hours from two of the three areas listed below and 3 semester hours from the remaining area, a minimum of 9 semester hours in courses numbered 300 or above, and no more than 6 semester hours from study abroad courses (including all related lectures and labs).
