The Bachelor of Science degree program in Criminal Justice prepares students for the professional world through a broad presentation of issues that address the six content areas recommended by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS):\u00a0\u00a0Administration of Justice, Corrections, Criminological Theory, Law Adjudication, Law Enforcement, and Research Analytic Methods, in addition to a systematic examination of issues of diversity and ethics.\u00a0\u00a0In addition to fulfilling these national standards, the program focuses coursework on law enforcement and security issues associated with wetlands, coastal, and maritime concerns, using the experience of and issues uniquely associated with the University\u2019s service region as a model for global issues.<\/p>\n

New University students will begin the program with courses satisfying General Education Requirements (GER) in preparation for courses in criminal justice principles, namely CRJU 290 and CRJU 291.\u00a0\u00a0Students with an Associate of Science degree are immediately eligible to enter the program at the junior level.<\/p>\n

Minor<\/strong>
\nA minor in Criminal Justice requires the completion of 18 semester hours to include CRJU 290 and 15 semester hours to be chosen from CRJU courses 300-level or above.<\/p>\n
