Quality Enhancement Plan Fee<\/strong><\/em> – $5.00 –\u00a0 fee authorized by the LA Legislature to support activities broadly encompassed within the scope of the Quality Enhancement Plan<\/p>


Student Success Fee<\/strong><\/em> – $5.00 – fee authorized by the LA Legislature to fund activities of classes typically sought by first year college students<\/p>


Building Use Fee<\/strong><\/em> – $10.00\u00a0 fee authorized by the LA Legislature used to construct, acquire, extend or improve academic facilities<\/p>


I.D. Card<\/strong><\/em> – $15.00\u00a0 fee charged each semester for I.D. card (Colonel Card)<\/p>


Institutional Evaluation Fee<\/strong><\/em> – $10.00\u00a0 fee charged to provide testing to all freshman students in order to prepare a complete student profile<\/p>

BUILDING USE FEE-ACT<\/strong> 426-13<\/strong> – $48.00<\/strong>\u00a0 – fee authorized by the LA Legislature used to construct, acquire,\u00a0repair, maintain, operate, or improve the facilities and physical infrastructure of the institution<\/p>

Instructional Technology Fee<\/em> – $5.00 per credit hour, $60.00 (12 cr hr), max at $100.00 (20 cr hr)\u00a0– fee authorized by Act 1450 of the 1997 Louisiana Regular Legislative Session used for the purpose of implementing, replacing, improving and expanding technologies to benefit student life and learning<\/p>


Academic Excellence Fee<\/strong><\/em>– $10.00 per credit hour, max at $120.00 – fee authorized by Act 1132 of the 2003 Louisiana Regular Legislative Session used to promote academic excellence by enhancing instuctional programs<\/p>


Operational Fee<\/strong><\/em> – $5.00 per credit hour, max at $60.00 – fee authorized by Act 788 of the 2004 Louisiana Regular Legislative Session used to cover unfunded state mandates which include increases in retirement system costs and health insurance costs not funded through the state general fund appropriation and to enhance instructional programs at the University<\/p>

ENERGY SURCHARGE\u00a0 – $108.00 <\/strong>– ($9.00 per credit hour)\u00a0 Fee charged to fund increases in fuel adjustment rate over the fuel adjustment base rate of the year 1999<\/p>


Students registered for 4 or more hours are required to pay the following fees.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

UNIVERSITY ASSESSED FEES – $29.95<\/p>


Family Resource Center<\/em><\/strong> – $0.25 fee charged to support parenting classes and other family related activities to benefit the student body at NSU<\/p>


Alumni<\/strong> <\/em>– $0.70 fee charged each student that is dedicated to the Alumni Federation<\/p>


Intramural & Recreation Fee<\/strong><\/em> – $1.00 fee charged to fund the NSU Department of Recreation and Intramural Sports<\/p>


Student Health Fee<\/strong><\/em> – $20.00 fee charged for health services that are provided or made available to students and provides funding for operation of student infirmary<\/p>


Student Physician Health Fee<\/strong><\/em> – $5.00 fee charged to pay for physician to provide on-campus services to students needing medical attention<\/p>


Academic Retention<\/strong><\/em> – $3.00 fee charged to support the tutoring and advising along with other retention initiatives within University College.<\/p>

STUDENT ASSESSED FEES – $407.50<\/p>


SGA Legal Aid<\/strong><\/em> – $0.00 fee charged for the funding of legal aid program that provides limited legal services to students (as per student body vote-fee was rescinded 11\/14\/2022)<\/p>


Student Newspaper <\/strong><\/em>– $0.00 fee charged for printing and distribution of The ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Worth to students on campus (suspended effective Fall 2018 – replaced with Student Media fee)<\/span><\/p>


Student Programming Association<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 – $5.00 fee charged to provide funding for Student Programming Association operations<\/p>


Radio Station<\/strong><\/em> – $0.00 fee charged for the operations of KNSU, to purchase equipment, attend conventions, travel, and game coverage expenses, meeting the normal operations of the radio station, both non-commercial and commercial (suspended effective Fall 2018 – replaced with Student Media fee)<\/p>


Cheerleaders<\/strong> <\/em>– $0.25 fee charged to fund NSU cheerleaders such as uniforms and other supplies<\/p>


Student Wellness Team<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0– $0.50 fee charged to fund the S.E.A.L.S program<\/p>


Recreation Center<\/strong><\/em> – $47.25 ($6.75 per credit hour, max at 7 hours) fee approved by students that is charged to fund the planning, building, maintaining, equipping and staffing a comprehensive recreation and intramural sports complex and activities program<\/p>


Recreation Center Operational Fee<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0– $20.00 – self assessed fee approved by students to fund the operation of the Student Recreation Center and activities programs<\/p>


Student Media Fee<\/strong><\/em> – $7.50 – self assessed fee approved by the students to fund KNSU, ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Worth, LaPirogue and the TV station.\u00a0 This fee replaces the $3.00 KNSU fee and the $6.00\u00a0 ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Worth fee.<\/p>


Athletic Fee<\/strong><\/em> – 2013 – $123.00 – ($10.25 per credit hour, max at 12 hours) self assessed fee approved by students that is charged to provide an additional source of funding for the Athletic Department allowing them to maintain their program in a manner similar to that found at sister Louisiana regional institutions<\/p>


Student Activities Fee<\/strong><\/em> – $204.00 – ($17.00 per credit hour) additional self assessed fee approved by students to pay for increased costs, which exceeds the level of funding that the existing fees provide in order to sustain quality student activities which include the following:<\/p>

  • SGA – $20.40<\/li>
  • SPA – $18.36<\/li>
  • Cheerleaders – $12.65<\/li>
  • NSU Band – $14.28<\/li>
  • Veterans Services – $8.16<\/li>
  • Mosaic – $1.22<\/li>
  • Athletic – $116.69<\/li>
  • Retention Organizations – $4.08<\/li>
  • Club Sports – $6.12<\/li>
  • University Police – $2.04<\/li><\/ul>


    Other fees that may be applicable.<\/strong><\/p>


    Excess Credit Hour Fee<\/span> – Fee assessed to students taking 16 credit hours or more during a term.\u00a0 Undergraduate students will pay $205.10 per additional credit hour and graduate students will pay $236.90 per additional credit hour.<\/p>


    Culinary Arts Program Fee (CULA)<\/span> – Fee assessed to students enrolled in any Culinary Arts program and shall not exceed $250 per term or session, including Culinary Arts Program students enrolled in ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Online.<\/p>


    Petroleum Engineering Technology & Safety Management Program (PETSM) Fee<\/span> – Fee of $150 assessed to all students enrolled in any PETSM curriculum, including students enrolled in ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Online.<\/p>


    Nursing Undergraduate Program Fee<\/span> – Fee assessed to all undergraduate students enrolled in any Nursing BSN program once admitted to the professional program of study, not to exceed $300 per semester, including Nursing students enrolled in ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Online.<\/p>


    Nursing Graduate Program Fee<\/span> – Fee assessed to all graduate students enrolled in any Nursing MSN program once admitted to the professional program of study, not to exceed $350 per semester,\u00a0 including Nursing student in ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Online.<\/p>


    MBA Program Fee<\/span> – Fee of $50 per credit hour assessed to students enrolled in the MBA program each semester or session, consistent with University policy, excluding the EMBA program, including students enrolled in ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Online.<\/p>
