{"id":1191,"date":"2022-03-11T19:54:11","date_gmt":"2022-03-11T19:54:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/library\/?p=1191"},"modified":"2022-03-11T19:54:12","modified_gmt":"2022-03-11T19:54:12","slug":"ellender-memorial-library-aims-to-enhance-appeal-on-give-n-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/library\/2022\/03\/11\/ellender-memorial-library-aims-to-enhance-appeal-on-give-n-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Ellender Memorial Library Aims to Enhance Appeal on Give-N-Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>THIBODAUX, La. &#8212; When you have to spend hours studying for a midterm or final, finding the right space is important for your state of mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s why for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.givenday.org\/organizations\/ellender-memorial-library\">Give-N-Day<\/a> on Tuesday, March 15, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/library\/\">Ellender Memorial Library<\/a> is asking for donations to help reupholster the chairs on the second floor to give them more appeal than orange and yellow ones that look straight out of the 1970s.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur goal is to create a comfortable and welcoming space for students to study in, and upgrading our chairs would go a long way toward that goal,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/library\/faculty\/rob-stephens\/\">Dr. Robert Stephens<\/a>, Research and Instruction Librarian and Outreach Coordinator. \u201cWe reupholstered a handful of them last year, and the refurbed ones have been the most used in the library.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To donate, you can visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.givenday.org\/organizations\/ellender-memorial-library\">Library\u2019s Give-N-Day page<\/a> or donate directly to library Director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/library\/faculty\/elizabeth-batte-mlis\/\">Elizabeth Batte<\/a> on the second floor. You can give a minimum of $5 to help the library, or even donate $250 to upgrade a study room.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOne of our core functions is to provide a variety of appropriate spaces to facilitate learning and communication,\u201d Batte said. \u201cBy donating to this year&#8217;s campaign, our donors will help us create a more inviting and comfortable space for all Colonels.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The library is hoping to reupholster around 200 chairs, which would cost approximately $10,000, to finish upgrading the chairs on the second floor.
