The Nancy Sanderson Matherne Institute for Global Communications gives ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ students hands-on experience in global and environmental communication. Through its Two Coasts. One Future. initiative, students compare Louisiana’s coastal land-loss crisis with environmental challenges in another part of the world, using international fieldwork, interviews, research, and multimedia storytelling to explore shared problems and possible solutions.

The Institute’s work supports the United Nations’ #RestorationGeneration initiative and ÐÓ°É´«Ã½â€™ #RestorationEducation campaign, with student-produced stories, videos, educational resources, and other multimedia published on a dedicated project website.

The Institute was created and funded by Dr. Brian Matherne and his daughter Kellie Daniels in honor of Nancy Sanderson Matherne, a United Kingdom native, longtime Terrebonne Parish resident, and the first female member of the Terrebonne Parish School Board.
