Watercolors by Lula Ameen, the late namesake of the Ameen Art Gallery at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½, now adorn the foyer of Elkins Hall, the university’s oldest building.
Donated to the ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Foundation by Rubye Beal Fitzgerald – the mother of the watercolors’ late owner, Joe Frank Beal Jr. – the display memorializes both Ameen and Beal. The former received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ and subsequently taught watercolor at the university from 1972 to 1989. Beal was a 1977 graduate of the College of Education.
