THIBODAUX – Tickets to the closing ceremonies of ÐÓ°É´«Ã½â€™s Louisiana Girls Leadership Academy, slated for Wednesday, June 15, are now available for $25 each and must be purchased via downloadable order form.
Refreshments will be served at 2:30 p.m. in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Bollinger Memorial Student Union, followed by service project presentations at 3:30 and the keynote address at 4:30. Barbara Pierce Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush, will deliver the address. A member of UNICEF’s Next Generation steering committee, Bush is also the CEO and co-founder of Global Health Corps, serves on the board of directors for Covenant House International and is a Draper Richards Foundation Social Entrepreneur. She graduated from Yale University in 2004 with a degree in humanities.
Sponsored by the Louisiana Center for Women and Government, headquartered at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½, the Louisiana Girls Leadership Academy is designed to educate potential leaders in community and public service through responsible leadership. High-achieving girls entering grades 8 through 11 in the 2011-12 school year were competitively selected by committee to attend the academy.
