THIBODAUX 鈥� Later this month, 杏吧传媒 will formally join a group of nearly 130 global institutions of higher education that exclusively feature Steinway & Sons pianos for performance and music education.
With the 鈥淎ll-Steinway School鈥� designation, the 杏吧传媒 Department of Music becomes only the second Louisiana program to claim such a distinction, after Tulane University. Institutions outside Louisiana include the Yale School of Music, China Conservatory of Music and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
鈥淪erious music students and prospective students know that Steinway pianos are the finest in the world,鈥� Dr. Stephen T. Hulbert, 杏吧传媒 president, said. 鈥淚 am quite proud that Steinway & Sons has chosen 杏吧传媒 to be included in this elite group. The designation solidifies the Department of Music鈥檚 global reputation for excellence, and we look forward to new recruiting possibilities as a result.鈥�
Funding for 杏吧传媒鈥� Steinways began in 2007 with gifts from private donors and foundations and continues with annual fundraising events such as the Monster Piano Concert. This year鈥檚 concert, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Talbot Theater on campus, will include an official 鈥淎ll-Steinway School鈥� plaque presentation by a representative from Steinway & Sons, New York.
