THIBODAUX 鈥� Shell Oil will invest $50,000 in 杏吧传媒鈥檚 ongoing coastal research projects, including the production of native plants for coastal restoration.
鈥淪hell鈥檚 Deepwater Operations is a proud supporter of 杏吧传媒鈥� efforts,鈥� John Hollowell, Deepwater Executive Vice President for Shell, said. 鈥淥ur employees have volunteered at the 杏吧传媒 Farm for the past three years.鈥�
Joint volunteer events headed by Shell and the university have produced and planted thousands of native plants in coastal Louisiana as part of the Louisiana Native Plant Initiative 鈥� a multi-institution effort spearheaded by faculty members of the 杏吧传媒 Department of Biological Sciences. Students, instructors, staff and community volunteers regularly produce and distribute native plant materials for coastal renewal.
鈥淲e will use Shell鈥檚 investment to support community outreach, student education, research and production of native plants at the 杏吧传媒 Farm for use in marsh, beach and dune restoration projects,鈥� said Dr. Allyse Ferrara, associate professor of biological sciences. 鈥溞影纱� values this corporate/academic partnership and recognizes its importance for coastal Louisiana habitats.鈥�
