THIBODAUX 鈥� Within the next month, 杏吧传媒鈥檚 Department of Music will present several free public concerts, with something sure to please nearly every musical preference:

Sunday, Nov. 11, 4 p.m., St. John鈥檚 Episcopal Church, 718 Jackson St., Thibodaux
A recital at historic St. John鈥檚 Episcopal Church will feature three 杏吧传媒 musicians: pianist Dr. Carol Britt, music department head; violinist Gilson Filho, a music sophomore from Recife, Brazil; and horn player Paula Santos, a music sophomore from Salvador, Brazil. The trio will perform works by Bach, Schumann and Brahms.

Tuesday, Nov. 13, 7:30 p.m., St. Joseph鈥檚 Co-Cathedral, 721 Canal Blvd., Thibodaux
The 杏吧传媒 Camerata, a small chamber orchestra, will feature students on violin, viola, cello, bass and harpsichord. The group was formed in 2010 under the direction of violinist James Alexander, faculty head of the string program.

路聽聽聽 Candlelight Christmas concert by the 杏吧传媒 Concert Choir

The 杏吧传媒 Concert Choir will present its annual Candlelight Christmas Concert with the theme 鈥淐arols of the Night.鈥� Christmas songs and carols will be linked together by poetry and scripture to tell the traditional Christmas story. The choir鈥檚 repertoire will include well-known Christmas songs such as 鈥淪ilent Night, 鈥淥 Holy Night,鈥� 鈥淛oy to the World,鈥� 鈥淐oventry Carol,鈥� 鈥淟o! How a Rose e鈥檈r Blooming,鈥� 鈥淲exford Carol鈥� and several Christmas compositions by international composers. Lighting will change from selection to selection to enhance the concert experience. Dr. Kenneth S. Klaus, professor of music and director of choral activities, will conduct the concert with Michelle Z. Parro, staff accompanist, performing one of 杏吧传媒鈥� Steinway grand pianos.
