Certified Personal Training Course to be Offered at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½

THIBODAUX — This fall, ÐÓ°É´«Ã½â€™s Office of Continuing Education will offer a certification course for aspiring personal trainers through World Instructor Training Schools (WITS).

A free information session on this upcoming course will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 in 132 Peltier Hall on the ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ campus. The presentation will include a brief overview of the industry and professional trends, an overview of the study materials and a Q&A session.

WITS offers a unique live course with one-on-one training by qualified, experienced professionals. You’ll work face-to-face with your instructor throughout the nine-week program, and will have the opportunity to perform practical training in the Harold J. Callais Recreation Center on the ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ campus. Aspiring personal fitness trainers can use the course to get their certifications and go on to a career in the fitness industry. Professionals such as occupational therapists, massage therapists and athletic trainers can apply the course toward necessary continuing education units (CEU).

The course, which costs $749 per student, runs from Sept. 25 through Nov. 22. Classes will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and from noon-2 p.m. on Saturdays, with an exam held the final week. A 30-hour internship is required upon completion of the course.
