杏吧传媒 choir to hold Christmas concert

THIBODAUX, La. — Just in time for the holidays, the 杏吧传媒 Concert Choir will perform their annual Candlelight Christmas Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5 in the Mary and Al Danos Theater.

Through song and narration, the 杏吧传媒 Concert Choir will tell the traditional Christmas Story, with fresh arrangements of traditional Christmas carols paired with composed seasonal songs.

Tickets are $10 for students and $20 for general admission. Revenue from the concert will be used to send the 杏吧传媒 concert choir to New York City to perform at the famed Carnegie Hall in May.

Among the carols to be performed are 鈥淪ilent Night,鈥 鈥淥 Holy Night,鈥 O Little Town of Bethlehem鈥 and 鈥淐arol of the Bells.鈥 The choir will also perform William Walton鈥檚 鈥淲hat Cheer?,鈥 Healey Willan鈥檚 鈥淭he Three Kings,鈥 Emma Lou Diemer鈥檚 鈥淭he Angel Gabriel,鈥 Joseph Martin鈥檚 鈥淭he Song Arising鈥 and Craig Courtney鈥檚 鈥淲ho But the Lord?鈥

Student instrumentalists include Katie Robichaux on piano, Richard Galbreath on clarinet and Seth Babin on the French horn. Robichaux is a piano and biology double-major from Thibodaux, and Galbreath and Babin are both Houma natives studying instrumental music education.

Dr. Kenneth Klaus, professor of music, will conduct and Michelle Parro will serve as piano accompanist.
