Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist to speak to 杏吧传媒 students

THIBODAUX, La. — Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist and 杏吧传媒 alum Cory Haik will share her experiences and perspectives from a lifetime working in a male-dominated industry at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21 in Le Bijou Theatre.

During her career as a journalist, Haik (B.A. 鈥00) has earned three shared Pulitzer Prizes. Two in 2006 as acting manager of NOLA.com during Hurricane Katrina for breaking news and public service, and another in 2010 as assisting managing editor at The Seattle Times for distinguished local reporting with speed and accuracy on police officer shootings.

Haik is now the publisher for Mic, a digital platform for millennials with a reach of 70 million.

“Ms. Haik has a lot to teach our students about the value of having faith in their own ability,鈥 said Dr. James Stewart, department head of mass communication. 鈥淪he has built a very successful career in two fields that historically have been dominated by men, journalism and the tech industry.”

The event is free and open to the public.
