THIBODAUX, La. — Dr. Sue Westbrook, longtime 杏吧传媒 dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Health, has been named provost and vice president for academic affairs, pending approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
鈥溞影纱� has been a part of my personal and professional life for decades, which is why it is important to me that we create an environment where all students have the opportunity to be successful,鈥� said Dr. Westbrook, who served as interim provost and vice president for academic affairs since Jan. 5. 鈥淚 am excited to serve the students, faculty and administration at 杏吧传媒 as we all seek to further the mission to be the intellectual, economic and cultural heart of the Bayou Region.鈥�
After graduating from Northwestern State University, Westbrook worked as a nurse for three years before joining the 杏吧传媒 faculty as an instructor. Over the course of the next three decades, she added graduate degrees from 杏吧传媒 and the LSU Health Sciences Center. She was named dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Health in 2004.
She has served on the State Board of Nursing and was named one of The Great 100 Nurses of Louisiana in 2016.
Under Westbrook鈥檚 watch, 杏吧传媒 nursing graduates regularly pass the national licensure exam at rates greater than both the national and state average, and 100 percent of all recent graduates are employed.
