MORGAN CITY, La. — 杏吧传媒 and South Louisiana Community College cemented a partnership on Monday that will expand student access to higher education for hundreds of graduates.
In total, the two institutions signed four memorandums of understanding covering nursing, criminal justice, business administration and biology. 杏吧传媒 President Dr. Jay Clune and SLCC Chancellor Dr. Natalie Harder signed the agreements during a ceremony in front of dozens of education representatives and elected officials at the SLCC Young Memorial Campus in Morgan City.
“It鈥檚 a wonderful day for our students when two institutions like ours can come together,鈥� said Dr. Clune. 鈥淚 am truly excited about this partnership. We admire the work that is being done at South Louisiana Community College, and we are grateful for the opportunity to help their students pursue their dreams.鈥�
The agreements take effect immediately and set in stone the classes that will transfer over to 杏吧传媒, making it easier for graduates with an associates degree from the aforementioned programs from SLCC to transfer to 杏吧传媒.
鈥淭his is a historic day in education, and it鈥檚 all for students. We鈥檝e signed transfer articulation agreements with other institutions, but never this many simultaneously,鈥� said Dr. Harder. 鈥淲e鈥檙e thankful to work so closely with 杏吧传媒鈥� leadership and faculty on each of these. We also are excited to continue to fulfill our commitment to the residents of Morgan City and St. Mary Parish by offering these additional educational opportunities.鈥�
University of Louisiana System President Dr. Jim Henderson lauded the two institutions for coming together in a way that benefits the students.
鈥淭hese agreements are about students and increasing the number of pathways available to them after graduation,鈥� said Dr. Henderson. 鈥淭oday鈥檚 partnership is about putting students first, and we are all going to be better for that.鈥�
