THIBODAUX, La. — The Bridge to Independence program at 杏吧传媒 invites you to their inaugural Shrimp Boil Fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 16 in the Guidry Stadium parking lot.
For $12, guests can dine on one pound of delicious boiled shrimp plus corn and potatoes while mingling with Bridge students. Plates can be picked up in a drive through or eaten in a tent in the parking lot or inside the Century Room in the stadium.
Bridge to Independence assists students with intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorder with academic, job and social skills. 杏吧传媒鈥� program is one of over 50 programs in the United States certified by the U.S. Department of Education and the first in Louisiana. When the program first opened its doors in Fall 2016, eight students were enrolled. This semester, the program enrolled 38.
鈥淏ridge to Independence provides support and services for people with intellectual disabilities and autism, and helps them obtain college degrees, job readiness skills and the ability to live independently,鈥� said Dr. Mary Breaud, Bridge program advisor. 鈥淭his is an opportunity for the public to see the work that we鈥檙e doing and the progress that our students are making.鈥�
Event sponsors include Louisiana Seafood, Crawdaddy Seafood, Reva Kraemer, Red Hollow Farms, Rene Gautreaux for District Judge and Lafourche Parish District Attorney Kristine Russell.
All proceeds from the event will go back into Bridge to Independence.
