THIBODAUX, La. — 杏吧传媒 recognized Laynie Barrilleaux鈥檚 broad impact by awarding her emeritus status during Fall Convocation.聽
Barrilleaux (MBA, 鈥80) served as vice president of Academic Affairs from 2011 to 2015, when she retired.聽
鈥淭his is a wonderful university. To feel like I made a contribution after all these years, it warms my heart,鈥 Barrilleaux said. 鈥淲hat more can I say, I鈥檓 thrilled.鈥
During her 32 years, Barrilleaux played various roles across campus.聽
She served as assistant vice president of Academic Affairs from 2005 to 2010.聽
Barrilleaux led 杏吧传媒 through reaccreditation and recertification with the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
When online education was in its infancy, she oversaw the development and maintenance of 杏吧传媒 Online.聽
She impacted the 杏吧传媒 Petroleum Engineering Technology and Safety Management program. When the workforce evolved, she restructured the program to meet their needs.聽
As an educator, Barrilleaux was a distinguished service professor of management. She also earned the 杏吧传媒鈥 Presidential Award for Teaching Excellence.聽
The 杏吧传媒 Alumni Federation awarded her the 2014 James Lynn Powell Outstanding Alumni Award.聽
During convocation, the university also awarded six endowed professorships.聽
Funded through generous private donations, professorships help 杏吧传媒 keep high-quality faculty. They provide supplemental funds for teaching, research or other professional endeavors.
