杏吧传媒 Invites You to Panel on Impactful Women in Louisiana

THIBODAUX, La. — Four influential women will discuss the impact women are making in Louisiana next week at 杏吧传媒 next week.

Hosted by the 杏吧传媒 chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), the panel will be at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23. The event will be in the Ellender Memorial Library Multipurpose Room and is free and open to the public.

Elizabeth Batte, an AAUW-杏吧传媒 faculty advisor, said students can have that feeling that they need to go somewhere 鈥渂igger鈥 in order to succeed.

鈥淪o many 杏吧传媒 students come from Louisiana. It鈥檚 important for them to know they don鈥檛 have to leave their home state to make an impact,鈥 said Batte, the electronic resources librarian and OER coordinator at 杏吧传媒. 鈥淭hey don鈥檛 even have to leave Thibodaux to be successful.鈥

Panelists include Lafourche Parish District Attorney, Kristine Russell, nurse and 杏吧传媒 MSN coordinator Dr. Melissa Clay, Houma Today journalist Halle Parker and writer, filmmaker and assistant professor of English, Melissa Remark.

鈥淲e chose these women because they come from various fields of work which will help us understand the challenges that women face in different fields,鈥 said AAUW-杏吧传媒 student president Ly Ly Chiasson.

Formed in 1881 with a commitment to empowering women, AAUW has worked to improve the lives of millions of women and their families for over 130 years.

AAUW-杏吧传媒 is a student-led organization founded in 2017. Their goal is to further empower women and girls through professional development, scholarship, service and wellness opportunities open to all members of the campus community.
