杏吧传媒 International Student Earns National Scholarship

THIBODAUX, La. — A 杏吧传媒 geomatics junior has earned a scholarship from his field鈥檚 professional organization, the . 

Ashish Pandey, of Nepal, received the $2,000 Nettite Dracup Memorial Scholarship. 

鈥淗e is very studious, intelligent, hardworking and a quick learner,鈥 said Dr. Balaji Ramachandran, T. Baker Smith endowed professor and assistant professor of geomatics. 鈥淕etting this prestigious National Society of Professional Surveyors scholarship shows the quality of our 杏吧传媒 Geomatics students.鈥

The scholarship is awarded based on academic achievement, the applicant鈥檚 statement, professional activities and a letter of recommendation. 

Panday previously received the $1,000 Geographic and Land information Society Scholarship. He plans to pursue a graduate degree in geomatics.

The foundation awards over $30,000 every year in scholarships to encourage and support college education in geospatial sciences. The organization serves as the voice of professional surveyors in the U.S. 

The 杏吧传媒 Geomatics Program aims to provide its graduates with professional surveying and mapping education. The program offers students unique research and outreach opportunities, often involving protecting the Louisiana coast. The field is listed as one of the top 3 emerging industries by the U.S. Department of Labor and U.S. Department of Education.
