THIBODAUX, La. — The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has officially certified 杏吧传媒 as the third higher education institution to provide the ISTE Certification for Educators.
鈥淭he COVID-19 pandemic has brought the need for educational technology leaders to the forefront of education at all levels,鈥� said Dr. Cynthia Vavasseur, professor of education. 鈥淭he coursework within this new certification will be meaningful to teachers and students, and we will continue to strive for the highest applied practice distinction of the ISTE Standards for Educators.鈥�
ISTE is a nonprofit organization that works with the global education community to accelerate the use of technology to solve tough problems and inspire innovation. They are the largest educational technology organization around the world, and their annual conference draws around 25,000 attendees.
鈥淲e are excited to welcome 杏吧传媒 as a provider of the ISTE Certification for Educators,鈥� said Carolyn Sykora, senior director of ISTE Standards Program. 鈥溞影纱� joins a group of universities that are leading the charge in preparing teachers to use pedagogically sound, technologically innovative practices.鈥�
The first two cohorts will begin this summer with one taking place within the College of Educational and Behavioral Sciences and the other through 杏吧传媒 Online. Both cohorts will be held virtually.
Cohorts will last for 18 months, and the courses will be fully online. Students will receive a master鈥檚 in educational technology leadership and the opportunity to earn the ISTE Certification through a portfolio review by ISTE. Teachers who already have their master鈥檚 can enroll in the eight courses necessary to earn the designation.
Of the 1000 ISTE-certified educators worldwide, two of them are 杏吧传媒 faculty: Dr. Vavasseur and Dr. Sara Dempster, assistant professor of education.
