THIBODAUX, La. — Entergy Corp. and 杏吧传媒 are proud to continue a partnership that busses local underrepresented high school students to campus for tours.
Almost a thousand Bayou Region high school students have visited the 杏吧传媒 campus through the Tour Tuesday presented by Entergy program since its inception in 2016. With the latest $10,000 donation, Entergy has contributed $50,000 to the initiative.
鈥淓ducation is the cornerstone for a successful Louisiana,鈥� said Phillip May, Entergy Louisiana president and CEO. 鈥淲e鈥檙e a proud partner of the Tour Tuesday program and I can鈥檛 think of a more worthwhile endeavor than investing in the future of our students.鈥�
杏吧传媒 works with guidance counselors at the high schools to identify first-generation and low-income high school students who meet 杏吧传媒 admissions standards. Those students are then transported to campus where they are given a tour and an overview of academic programs and student organizations. Interested students will meet with admissions counselors who help them fill out an application and financial aid forms.
鈥淓ntergy has been a valuable partner to 杏吧传媒 and the Bayou Region for many years,鈥� said Dr. Sue Westbrook, provost and vice president for academic affairs. 鈥淔or many first-generation students, the idea of college can seem foreign or unattainable. But through this program, we have been able to open the eyes of so many students and show them a college degree is achievable and life-changing.鈥澛�
