杏吧传媒, William Carey Sign Agreement for Preferred Pharmacy Admissions

Dr. Kaisa Young

THIBODAUX, La. — 杏吧传媒 and William Carey University are partnering to create an efficient path for students seeking to enroll in the William Carey School of Pharmacy.

The preferred admissions program is effective immediately and will benefit any 杏吧传媒 student that holds a minimum 3.5 GPA in pre-pharmacy classes, a minimum 3.0 GPA in math and science classes, earn at least a C in each required course and demonstrate a commitment to volunteer and service in the community. Students who meet those qualifications will be guaranteed an interview with the William Carey School of Pharmacy.

Though admission to the school is not guaranteed, getting an interview is an important first step, Dr. Kaisa Young, chemistry department head and associate professor of physics, said. Dr. Young and Dr. Michael Malloy, dean of the School of Pharmacy, began working on the agreement earlier this year after Dr. Malloy was impressed by 杏吧传媒 alumni in the program.

鈥淧harmacy school is competitive and getting an opportunity to meet in person with the people that will decide admissions is very important,鈥 Dr. Young said. 鈥淭he William Carey School of Pharmacy is close to home, fully accredited and an accelerated program, which allows students to graduate and enter the workforce faster. This agreement shows that 杏吧传媒 students are well-prepared to enter a professional school, and will be beneficial for recruiting the best and brightest students to 杏吧传媒.鈥

Though all students are welcome, Dr. Young, noted this would likely benefit chemistry pre-pharmacy and biology pre-pharmacy majors the most.聽For more information on 杏吧传媒 Chemistry, visit nicholls.edu/chemistry, and for 杏吧传媒 Biology, visit nicholls.edu/biology.
