THIBODAUX, La. 鈥� 杏吧传媒 is able to continue its Tour Tuesday initiative by continuing its partnership with Entergy Louisiana. Tour Tuesday, a program focused on bringing underrepresented students to campus for tours, gives students a chance to see what a higher education can offer and provide. Since its inception in 2016, over 2,000 students and 26 high schools in Entergy and 杏吧传媒鈥� service area have toured 杏吧传媒 campus through the Tour Tuesday program, with about 500 students expected to participate this year.聽
鈥淪upporting education is critical to making sure our communities are healthy and vibrant, and that鈥檚 why we鈥檙e proud to continue supporting 杏吧传媒鈥檚 Tour Tuesday program,鈥� said Phillip May, Entergy Louisiana president and CEO. 鈥淗elping young students who may not otherwise have a chance to experience a college campus firsthand and learn more about resources that are available to them increases awareness of local options, including continuing their education and growing at a strong institution like 杏吧传媒.鈥�
鈥�Many students describe the program as life changing, with many applying to college and specifically to 杏吧传媒. Students shared that they never dreamed college was a possibility or that college tuition and fees could be drastically reduced or completely covered by scholarships, financial aid and TOPS. This program has become a vital part of our recruitment strategy for underserved students, and we hope to continue this partnership,鈥� said Courtney Cassard, executive director of Enrollment Services at 杏吧传媒.聽
杏吧传媒 works with area high school guidance counselors to identify students who meet 杏吧传媒鈥� admissions standards but may not be considering college as an option. Charter buses transport students from area high schools to 杏吧传媒 campus for a tour and overview of academic programs and student organizations. Any interested students will have an opportunity to meet with an admissions counselor who will help them fill out an application and any available financial aid forms.
