\"\"<\/a>THIBODAUX, La. \u2013 The <\/span>CohnReznick<\/span><\/a> Foundation<\/span><\/a> contributed $50,000 to establish the Barry Melancon Accounting Endowed Scholarship at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½. The contribution honors the legacy of ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ alumnus <\/span>Barry Melancon<\/span><\/a>, certified public accountant, chartered global management accountant and retired CEO and president of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountant \u2013 the most influential body of professional accountants in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

The scholarship was officially announced during a reception hosted by ÐÓ°É´«Ã½\u2019 <\/span>J.B. Falgoust Department of Accounting and Finance<\/span><\/a>. The event brought together colleagues, students and community members to recognize Melancon\u2019s global impact on the accounting profession. <\/span>In addition, Melancon was presented with the<\/span> Society of Louisiana CPAs<\/span><\/a> Lifetime Award by its Executive Director Ron Gitz.<\/span><\/p>\n

Melancon, one of the<\/span> Al Danos College of Business’<\/span><\/a> most distinguished alumni, earned his accounting degree in 1978 and MBA in 1983 from ÐÓ°É´«Ã½. His rise in the industry began when he became a CPA firm partner at only 25 and at 37 became the youngest-ever CEO of <\/span>AICPA<\/span><\/a>, eventually becoming the longest-serving leader in the organization\u2019s 129-year history upon his retirement in 2024.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
