THIBODAUX, La. \u2013 <\/span>Dr. Andrew Simoncelli<\/span><\/a>, a professor at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½, recently returned from Paris, France, where he was the only professor from the United States invited to teach at <\/span>De Vinci Higher Education’s<\/span><\/a> International Teaching Week<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>During this event, which brings together global experts to share new ideas with students, Dr. Simoncelli led a course focused on how AI is reshaping the media world, titled \u201cVisual Communication in an Age of Artificial Intelligence.\u201d He presented to students how AI tools are being used to create ads, logos and digital art, while emphasizing that the technology must be used in a responsible and ethical way.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAI is changing how we tell stories with pictures and video,\u201d Dr. Simoncelli said. \u201cIt is important for students to understand how these machines work, but also how to make sure the human element of creativity doesn’t get lost.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the third time Dr. Simoncelli has been invited to teach in Paris. He\u2019s taught at their main campus in Paris as well as their remote campus in Nantes. In the past, he has shared his research on how television news moved to the internet and how online learning has evolved.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond his work in the classroom, Dr. Simoncelli serves as the Director of Distance Learning for <\/span>ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Online<\/span><\/a>, where he focuses on expanding access to higher education. Within the <\/span>Department of Mass Communication<\/span><\/a>, he uses his background as a former TV producer in New Orleans to help students get ready for real-world jobs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
