Harris, culinary historian, author, journalist and tenured faculty member at Queens College, City University of New York. Author of eleven critically acclaimed cookbooks documenting the foods and foodways of the African Diaspora, Harris is a renowned lecturer; a prolific contributor to magazines ranging from Essence to German Vogue; and a frequent television guest on such networks as NBC, ABC and the Food Network.<\/p>\n<p>The evening\u2019s dinner will feature dishes created by distinguished visiting chef Dr. Patricia L. Wilson, professor of culinary arts at Johnson and Wales University in Miami,  Fla. The menu will include Pumpkin Soup with Sofrito and Cumin-Roasted Garbanzo Beans, Green Banana Escabeche Salad, Pulled Garlic-Roasted Pork with Tamarind Rum Sauce, Puerto Rican Rice with Pigeon Peas, Spicy Callaloo with Peppers and Onions, Rum-Soaked Sponge Cake with Traditional Caramel Flan and Tropical Fruit Sauces.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson has been with Johnson and Wales University\u2019s Miami campus for 10 years. She relocated to Miami from San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she was chef and owner of the award-winning Bistro Gambaro. She also hosted a talk radio program, \u201cWhat\u2019s Cooking with Patricia?\u201d and wrote a weekly food column, \u201cFrom Soup to Salsa,\u201d for The San Juan Star. During her career, she has made culinary excursions to the People\u2019s Republic of China, the Caribbean, Belize, Nicaragua, South Africa and Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>The award dinner will begin with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m., followed by the distinguished visiting chef\u2019s presentation and dinner at 7 p.m., in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Bollinger Memorial Student Union at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½.
