THIBODAUX \u2013 For the fourth consecutive year, ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ State University has been named to the President\u2019s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. Launched in 2006, the list recognizes colleges and universities nationwide that support innovative community service and service-learning programs. It is the highest federal recognition a university can receive for service-related commitment.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am pleased that ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ has once again received this national honor,\u201d Dr. Stephen T. Hulbert, university president, said. \u201cClasses focusing on community service have become a major part of this university\u2019s culture, and I am delighted that the federal government continues to acknowledge the selfless efforts of faculty, staff and students.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Corporation for National and Community Service oversees the honor roll in collaboration with the Department of Education, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Campus Compact and the American Council on Education. Honorees are chosen based on a series of selection factors including scope and innovation of service projects, percentage of student participation in service activities, incentives for service and the extent to which the school offers academic service-learning courses.<\/p>\n
