THIBODAUX \u2013 ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ received approval from the Board of Supervisors in April to enter into a cooperative agreement with the City of Thibodaux for the purpose of resurfacing two university streets. The agreement will result in savings for the university of approximately $32,000, plus the mobilization expenses that would have been charged by the contractor had the city and the university solicited separate bids.<\/p>\n
The two streets, Afton Drive and Ardoyne Drive \u2013 both of which end at the city\u2019s Peltier Park \u2013 provide access to the university\u2019s residence facilities, serve as pedestrian access from the park and provide additional parking for events held at the park.<\/p>\n
\u201cÐÓ°É´«Ã½ appreciates the willingness of Mayor Charles Caillouet and the City of Thibodaux to enter this joint venture,\u201d Dr. Stephen T. Hulbert, university president, said. \u201cBy working through the city, the university is saving money while addressing a badly needed street resurfacing project.\u201d<\/p>\n
The total cost to the university is approximately $97,000 \u2013 $32,000 for Ardoyne and $65,000 for Afton.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese streets are past due for resurfacing, and I am very pleased that the city has entered into this agreement,\u201d Mike Davis, assistant vice president for administration at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½, said.<\/p>\n
The agreement is currently pending approval by the city council of Thibodaux, after which it will be forwarded to the Office of Contractual Review in Baton Rouge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
