THIBODAUX \u2013 The Department of Music at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ State University will host the third annual Monster Piano Concert on Tuesday, Sept. 21, in Talbot Hall Theater on campus.<\/p>\n
Sixteen pianists, including faculty, students, alumni and guests, will perform on six Steinway pianos, including the university\u2019s own concert grand and four others, plus one more provided by Hall Piano Company, Louisiana\u2019s exclusive Steinway dealer.<\/p>\n
\u201cThree Monster Piano Concerts in a row mean that we have a new tradition at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½,\u201d Dr. Carol Britt, head of the Department of Music, said. \u201cSteinway pianos are also a tradition \u2013 one of fine workmanship, resulting in fine music. This summer we received another grand for the piano studio and four uprights for other studios and practice rooms, so our own Steinway tradition is moving right along. Faculty, students and friends are all looking forward to entertaining you with an evening of piano delights that showcase the Department of Music \u2013 hard work and great fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
The evening will begin with wine and hors d\u2019oeuvres at 6:30 p.m., followed by the performance at 7:30. Tickets are $50 per person and include food, drink and entertainment. Student tickets are $25 each, provided the student presents a valid Colonel Card. All proceeds will go toward purchasing additional Steinway pianos for the music program at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½.<\/p>\n
