THIBODAUX \u2013 Dale Underwood, acclaimed by the Washington Post as \u201cthe Heifetz of the alto saxophone,\u201d will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at St. John\u2019s Episcopal Church in Thibodaux. Featuring works by French, Brazilian and American composers, the concert is part of the 13th annual Jubilee: A Festival of the Arts and Humanities at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½.<\/p>\n

Dale Underwood<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Internationally recognized as one of the foremost classical saxophonists in the world, Underwood will be accompanied by Dianne Frazer, professional-in-residence collaborative pianist at LSU.<\/p>\n

Underwood has toured extensively throughout the world as a featured soloist, performing in the United States, England, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Sweden, Italy, Cuba, Brazil, Argentina, Russia, Ukraine, Mexico, Canada, Austria, Hungary, Spain, and for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican.<\/p>\n

Frazer has built an international career as a collaborative artist, appearing in recitals with musicians from around the world and touring extensively throughout the United States and Europe with several of today\u2019s leading artists.<\/p>\n

A subsequent master class with Underwood, featuring saxophone students from the ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ woodwind studio, E.D. White Catholic School and Terrebonne High School, will take place at 10:45 a.m. Friday, March 25, in Lindsley Band Hall.<\/p>\n

The concert and the master class, both free and open to the public, are sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, the ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Department of Music and the 13th annual Jubilee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
