THIBODAUX \u2014 Award-winning ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ poet Dr. David Middleton will read from his new book of original poems, \u201cFiddler on Driskoll Hill,\u201d at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23 in the Plantation Room of the Bollinger Student Union.<\/p>\n
The book is now for sale in the campus bookstore for $18.95. Middleton will be on hand signing copies of his book from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. the same day.<\/p>\n
Until his retirement in 2010, Middleton served as ÐÓ°É´«Ã½’ distinguished service professor, Alcee Fortier professor and head of the Department of Languages and Literature. Middleton serves as ÐÓ°É´«Ã½’ poet-in-residence.<\/p>\n
Middleton has published several collections of his poetry, including \u201cThe Burning Fields\u201d (LSU Press, 1991), \u201cAs Far as Light Remains\u201d (The Cummington Press, 1993), \u201cBeyond the Chandeleurs\u201d (LSU Press, 1999) and \u201cThe Habitual Peacefulness of Gruchy: Poems After Pictures by Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Millet\u201d (LSU Press, 2005). His work has won a number of awards, including the State of Louisiana Governor\u2019s Award for Outstanding Professional Artist for 2006.<\/p>\n
