THIBODAUX \u2014 The public is invited to attend a free Candlelight Christmas Concert hosted by the ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Concert Choir at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, in the Mary Danos Theater in Talbot Hall. <\/p>\n
The annual concert, themed \u201cA Carol for to Sing,\u201d is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season, with Christmas songs and carols linked together by poetry and scripture to tell the traditional story. Lighting will change from selection to selection to enhance the experience for concertgoers.<\/p>\n
The repertoire will include Christmas favorites, including \u201cAngels We Have Heard on High,\u201d \u201cSilent Night,\u201d \u201cWhat Child is This?\u201d and the \u201cMarch of the Kings.\u201d Soloist for \u201cSilent Night\u201d is Jessica Frickey, mezzo soprano, a senior vocal music education major from Des Allemands.<\/p>\n
The compositions will also include \u201cAnd the Glory of the Lord\u201d from Handel\u2019s Messiah, \u201cA Babe is Born\u201d by Welsh composer William Mathias, \u201cThe Angel Gabriel\u201d by American composer Emma Lou Diemer, \u201cWhat Sweeter Music\u201d by British composer John Rutter and Craig Courtney\u2019s \u201cWhile Shepherds Watched Their Flocks\u201d and \u201cPeace I Give to You.\u201d Two folk song arrangements from Newfoundland and Scotland will also be performed. <\/p>\n
The Concert Choir will be accompanied by Michelle Z. Parro on a ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Steinway concert grand piano. Dr. Kenneth S. Klaus will conduct. <\/p>\n
