{"id":5203,"date":"2014-01-17T13:56:08","date_gmt":"2014-01-17T19:56:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/?p=5203"},"modified":"2014-01-17T13:56:08","modified_gmt":"2014-01-17T19:56:08","slug":"nicholls-dyslexia-center-to-host-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/2014\/01\/17\/nicholls-dyslexia-center-to-host-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Dyslexia Center to Host Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THIBODAUX \u2014 Parents, teachers, guidance counselors and others interested in helping students with dyslexia are invited to attend the 2014 \u201cUnmasking Their Potential\u201d conference, presented by the Louisiana Center for Dyslexia and Related Learning Disorders at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ on Saturday, Jan. 25.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Susan Hall, a consultant specializing in teacher training in reading and dyslexia, will be the keynote speaker. She is the founder and president of an educational consulting and professional development company called 95 Percent Group Inc. The company provides consulting and teacher training to districts and schools in Response to Intervention (RTI) in early reading. <\/p>\n<p>\u2028Hall has provided professional development for over a dozen state departments of education, including overseeing the development of 2 years of training for the reading coaches and administrators in Reading First schools in Louisiana. Hall was president of the Illinois Branch of International Dyslexia Association (IDA) and served on the National IDA Board. She is the author of three books on RTI, a method of academic intervention, and data-differentiated instruction.<\/p>\n<p>The conference will also feature various professional breakout sessions on how to help children with dyslexia prepare for college, manage medications, utilize helpful iPad tools and software, more easily read multisyllabic words, perform better in math and more.<\/p>\n<p>Conference registration, including lunch, is $75 at the door. Full-time students with IDs will be admitted for $25.
