THIBODAUX \u2014 American economist, author and ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ alumnus Dr. Donald J. Boudreaux will present the inaugural Frederic Bastiat Guest Lecture Thursday, Nov. 13.<\/p>\n
His talk, titled \u201cThe Lens of Economics,\u201d will be presented at 1:30 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. in the Ridley J. Gros Auditorium in Powell Hall. The lecture is being presented by the ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ College of Business Administration and the Department of Business Administration and Computer Information Systems.<\/p>\n
Boudreaux, a 1980 graduate of ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ and a native of Cut Off, received his doctorate from Auburn University and his law degree from the University of Virginia Law School. He currently serves as director of the Center for the Study of Public Choice at George Mason University. <\/p>\n
An esteemed economics and legal scholar, Boudreaux is the author of \u201cGlobalization\u201d and \u201cHypocrites & Half-Wits: A Daily Dose of Sanity,\u201d based on his letters to the editor written to major newspapers around the country. He also writes the popular economics blog Caf\u00e9 Hayek with Russ Roberts and has published numerous articles, book chapters and newspaper columns.<\/p>\n
He previously served as the chairman of the Department of Economics at George Mason University, where he presided over two winners of the Nobel Prize in Economics.
