THIBODAUX, La. — Three ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ programs received donations from the South Central Industrial Association on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Geomatics, mass communications and petroleum engineering technology and safety management received $2,000 each.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis money will go to the students, faculty and the program,\u201d said Dr. Lynn Gillette, provost and vice president for academic affairs. \u201cHere at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½, we\u2019re constantly striving to meet the needs of the local industry. Donations like this one are an investment into the future of the Bayou Region.\u201d<\/p>\n
A Houma-based nonprofit, the SCIA advocates and partners with Bayou Region industry partners to promote strong economic growth in South Louisiana.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe SCIA supports local higher education and that includes ÐÓ°É´«Ã½,\u201d said Christy Naquin, SCIA director and ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ alumna. \u201cWe chose those three programs because of their impact on our local business industry. It\u2019s very important that we take care of the higher education institutions in our backyard because they produce some of the finest graduates in the area.\u201d<\/p>\n
