All events are FREE and open to the public unless otherwise noted.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>ALL MONTH<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ellender Memorial Library Display<\/strong><br \/>\nLocated on the second floor of the library during the month of February.<em><br \/>\nEllender Memorial Library presents a month-long display of library resources relating to the theme of African Americans in Times of War, including books, eBooks, government documents and archival materials. See\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nicholls.libguides.com\/afamhistory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/nicholls.libguides.com\/afamhistory&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1516901497496000&amp;usg=AFQjCNELjj6UddCESsLTh9rJdric4Q3C9Q\">nicholls.libguides.com\/afamhistory<\/a>\u00a0for more information.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>African-American Spotlights<br \/>\n<\/strong>At men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball games\u00a0in February<br \/>\n<em>Video spotlights of ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ African-Americans athletes will be show on the video board during basketball games, posted on ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Athletics social media outlets and geauxcolonels.com, and aired during the ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ athletics show on WHNO.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>THURSDAY, FEB. 1<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>African Americans in Times of War<\/strong><br \/>\nNoon \u2014 LeBijou Theatre<br \/>\n<em>African American veterans share their stories on what it takes to keep us safe. They too share how the structure of service presents both blockages for advancement and opportunities for personal growth. They share how living and working in periods of civil rights marches and monuments to persons such as Dr. Martin Luther King have provided a platform for racial understandings or shown how we have fallen short in bringing equal opportunities to us all.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Our Veterans at War:<\/em><br \/>\n<em> 1. Ms. Andetrie Vicks \u2014 retired US Army Veteran and ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Graduate Andetrie Vicks is a mother, U S Army retiree, and ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ graduate. She retired after over 20 years of service to our country. Andetrie joined the U S Army in August 1986 and served until December 2006. EDUCATION&#8212;B.A., Mass Communication, Public Relations, ÐÓ°É´«Ã½, 2016<\/em><br \/>\n<em> 2. Mr. Brandon Randolph \u2014 U.S. Navy Veteran and current ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ student.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> 3. Marcus Robertson a 27-year-old public relations specialist for a health firm in New Orleans. Mother is also a graduate of NSU. Marcus graduated Thibodaux high in 2008. He joined the U.S. Army in May of 2010. He deployed to Afghanistan in January of 2013 and returned January 2014. He performed numerous combat missions. Marcus received a combat action badge and a campaign medal.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> 4. Richard Adams \u2014 USAF retired, born and raised in Thibodaux. Graduated from Thibodaux High School, joined the United States Air Force in 1988. Retired after serving 22 years of active duty. Was stationed at a host of bases both stateside and abroad.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">MONDAY, FEB. 5<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Empowerment battle- Hey leader- What are you Fighting For?\u2019<br \/>\n<\/strong>Bowie and Lafitte Room in the Student Union<br \/>\n<em>A. What a Man, What a Man\u2014modeling character, connecting to your community and making profitable decisions. Men in the community are sharing personal stories on how to be a man of admiration.
