{"id":6546,"date":"2018-03-14T16:45:48","date_gmt":"2018-03-14T21:45:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/?p=6546"},"modified":"2018-03-14T16:45:48","modified_gmt":"2018-03-14T21:45:48","slug":"nicholls-first-ever-social-media-team-advances-to-semifinal-round-at-ball-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/2018\/03\/14\/nicholls-first-ever-social-media-team-advances-to-semifinal-round-at-ball-state\/","title":{"rendered":"ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ first-ever social media team advances to semifinal round at Ball State"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">THIBODAUX, La. &#8212; Four ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ seniors, representing the University\u2019s first-ever social media competition team, have placed in the top 10 at the Ball State Center for Advancement of Digital Marketing and Analytics Fourth Annual Social Media Competition and will compete in the semifinal round next month. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Forty teams participated in the initial round of the competition with only nine, including ÐÓ°É´«Ã½, moving on to the semifinal round. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Business majors Allie Boudreaux, Carleigh Seibert, Alexandria Prosperie and Harley Talbot prepared a social media campaign for YWCA USA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI think it speaks to the quality of our students in the ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ College of Business Administration that we have advanced this far in our first year of competing,\u201d said Dr. Laura Valenti, assistant professor of marketing and the team\u2019s advisor. \u201cEven if our students don\u2019t go into social media when they graduate, they have earned experience that will translate to any occupation.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ will compete in the semifinal round on April 7 at Ball State\u2019s L.A. Pittenger Student Center with a chance to be one of four teams that compete in the finals later that day.
