{"id":6563,"date":"2018-03-19T16:58:32","date_gmt":"2018-03-19T21:58:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/?p=6563"},"modified":"2018-03-19T16:58:32","modified_gmt":"2018-03-19T21:58:32","slug":"nicholls-professors-to-bring-brazilian-music-to-life-during-march-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/2018\/03\/19\/nicholls-professors-to-bring-brazilian-music-to-life-during-march-performance\/","title":{"rendered":"ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ professors to bring Brazilian music to life during March performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2018\/03\/alexander-soares.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-6564\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2018\/03\/alexander-soares-540x360.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"532\" height=\"355\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">THIBODAUX, La. &#8212; A pair of ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Department of Music professors who have performed in prestigious venues worldwide will put their latent on display during a concert held on March 26.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Alexander-Soares Duo was formed in 2005 and is composed of violinist James Alexander and pianist Dr. Luciana Soares. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe program on March 26th features beautiful music by Schubert, Szymanowski and exciting music by Brazilian composers,\u201d said Dr. Soares. \u201cThe concert is free and music lovers should not miss it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The event is from 7:30 to 9 p.m. that Monday in the Mary and Al Danos Theater.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Soares is a ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ professor of music and Alexander is a ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ lecturer and director of the string program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Alexander-Soares Duo has performed in prestigious venues, including the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage in Washington, D.C., the Landeskonservatorium in Austria, the University of Chichester in England and the Sala Cec\u00edlia Meireles in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The duo has most recently has performed in Romania and Slovakia and this summer will be performing in several cities in Brazil.
