{"id":6690,"date":"2018-04-30T16:30:22","date_gmt":"2018-04-30T21:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/?p=6690"},"modified":"2018-04-30T16:30:22","modified_gmt":"2018-04-30T21:30:22","slug":"nicholls-education-to-launch-applied-behavior-analysis-clinic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/2018\/04\/30\/nicholls-education-to-launch-applied-behavior-analysis-clinic\/","title":{"rendered":"ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Education to Launch Applied Behavior Analysis Clinic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">THIBODAUX, La. &#8212; The ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ College of Education plans for a summer clinic to provide behavior therapy to children, while also giving its graduate students an opportunity to engage with the community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Applied Behavior Analysis Clinic will start off small, offering part-time services to a few children, with plans to run full-time by the fall semester. The clinic will provide one-on-one behavior therapy for children with developmental disabilities and work closely with their parents and family members to help carry over treatment strategies outside the clinic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOverall, we would like the ABA clinic to provide quality experiential learning for our ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ students, while also expanding our relationships to other members of the greater community,\u201d said Dr. Laura Darcy, clinical director and ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ assistant professor of teacher education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ offers a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a High Incidence Disabilities Concentration with an ABA option. The program aims to prepare educators to implement intervention strategies to reach students with learning challenges.
