{"id":7138,"date":"2018-10-23T09:00:48","date_gmt":"2018-10-23T14:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/?p=7138"},"modified":"2018-10-23T09:00:48","modified_gmt":"2018-10-23T14:00:48","slug":"nicholls-state-university-announces-nicholls-forward-fundraising-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/2018\/10\/23\/nicholls-state-university-announces-nicholls-forward-fundraising-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ announces ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Forward fundraising campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2018\/10\/Annual-Fund-2.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7139 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2018\/10\/Annual-Fund-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1283\" height=\"128\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2018\/10\/Annual-Fund-2.jpg 1283w, https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2018\/10\/Annual-Fund-2-300x30.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2018\/10\/Annual-Fund-2-768x77.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2018\/10\/Annual-Fund-2-1024x102.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1283px) 100vw, 1283px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">THIBODAUX, La. &#8212; ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ is excited to announce the public launch of ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Forward, a new fundraising initiative aimed at ensuring the stability and success of ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ and its students, now and in the future. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThis is a pivotal moment for our campus,\u201d said Dr. Jay Clune, ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ president. \u201cI believe this campaign will help advance ÐÓ°É´«Ã½\u2019 position as a top-tier regional university that benefits communities not only in the Bayou Region but also in Louisiana.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The year-long push has set a goal of $700,000, which will go toward sustaining campus facilities, campus beautification, faculty development and resources, student scholarships and emergency costs. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThis is going to be a challenging goal to reach, but with more than 40,000 living alumni and even more community support, I believe it\u2019s one we can achieve,\u201d said Jeremy Becker, executive director of the ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Foundation. \u201cThis is exciting because it\u2019s an ambitious campaign with ambitious goals that will benefit every member of this campus.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. Clune has embarked on a campus beautification initiative since taking office in January, having already targeted Ellender Memorial Library, Bollinger Memorial Student Union, Babbington Hall and the ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Greenhouse as facilities in need of renovation or maintenance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Despite declining or stagnant levels of state funding, ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ enrollment has grown each of the past three years and is poised to continue its growth to Dr. Clune\u2019s goal of 10,000 students. Additional scholarships can help ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ recruit students who may not otherwise be able to afford the cost of higher education. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOur students need access to modern facilities that will maximize their quality of life and enhance their academic potential,\u201d Dr. Clune said. \u201cBy supporting ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Forward, you are helping ensure that ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ continues to provide an education like no other at an affordable cost. \u201c<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This fundraiser will also make sure students continue to receive the best instruction from the best instructors by providing funds to individual colleges to be used to send professors to conferences across the country as well bolster their classroom with modern technology. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Aligning with ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ 70th anniversary, donors are encouraged to donate $70 per month over the next 10 months, Becker said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThis campaign will give our alumni and our donors an opportunity to help tell the story of how ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ impacts South Louisiana,\u201d Becker
