THIBODAUX, La. — Boysie Bollinger and ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ are proud to announce a new $700,000 endowment to the ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Foundation. <\/span><\/p>\n

Bollinger, the former president and CEO of Bollinger Shipyards and current chairman of the ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Foundation Board, has now contributed $1 million to the university in 2019. In March, Bollinger donated $300,000 to renovate the Donald G. Bollinger Student Union, named for his father. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBoysie Bollinger is an icon in Louisiana as both a leader in industry and philanthropist,\u201d said Jeremy Becker, executive director of the ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Foundation. \u201cWe are already grateful for his leadership on the Foundation Board, and this gift will ensure his impact continues long into the future.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Known for his contributions to the shipbuilding industry and his generous philanthropy, Bollinger has long-supported ÐÓ°É´«Ã½. Among his many contributions to ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ was the first $1 million endowment in school history. He was recognized for his work with ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ with an honorary doctorate at the Fall 2018 Commencement. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn recent years, higher education hasn\u2019t received the support from the state that it needs, so it is important for the community to help supplement that gap,\u201d Bollinger said. \u201cThe ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Foundation supports all areas of the campus, from endowed professorships to scholarships to facility renovations and new buildings. This endowment will help the Foundation work day-to-day to reach its goal of uplifting ÐÓ°É´«Ã½.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Foundation manages approximately $25 million in endowed funds and provides about $2 million annually to the university through over 26 endowed scholarships and 63 professorships. Additionally, the Foundation assists with ongoing needs across the campus through annual funding and major donor acquisition efforts with a focus on facility improvements and construction.<\/span><\/p>\n
