{"id":8642,"date":"2022-01-21T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-01-21T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/?p=8642"},"modified":"2022-01-21T11:21:32","modified_gmt":"2022-01-21T17:21:32","slug":"nicholls-to-host-exhibit-from-new-orleans-based-ceramic-artist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/2022\/01\/21\/nicholls-to-host-exhibit-from-new-orleans-based-ceramic-artist\/","title":{"rendered":"ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ to Host Exhibit from New Orleans Based Ceramic Artist"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THIBODAUX, La. &#8212; The Dane Ledet Gallery at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ will feature a collection from Louisiana artist Chris Pate through Thursday, Feb. 10.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based in New Orleans, Pate\u2019s work features wood-fired ceramics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cChris\u2019s work exhibits a wonderful display of textures and a variety of colors within 3-dimensional forms, which have all been fired in a wood-burning kiln,\u201d said Jeff Brown, associate professor of ceramics. \u201cThe work really shows the diversity that can be produced using this type of kiln.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pate will give a gallery talk at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 9. The event is free and open to the public.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After graduating from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2009, Pate moved to Oregon where he discovered wood-fired ceramics in 2012. He was so inspired by the method that it has become his primary mode of expression since. In 2016, he returned to Louisiana as a resident artist in the ceramics department at UL. Pate\u2019s artwork has been featured in collections nationally and internationally.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more information on the Dane Ledet Gallery, visit <a
