{"id":9483,"date":"2024-04-12T15:26:36","date_gmt":"2024-04-12T20:26:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/?p=9483"},"modified":"2024-04-12T15:26:36","modified_gmt":"2024-04-12T20:26:36","slug":"the-pride-of-nicholls-to-host-high-school-battle-of-bands-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/2024\/04\/12\/the-pride-of-nicholls-to-host-high-school-battle-of-bands-event\/","title":{"rendered":"The Pride of ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ to host High School Battle of Bands Event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">THIBODAUX, La. \u2013 The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/music\/bands\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pride of ÐÓ°É´«Ã½<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is set to host its Battle of the Bands: High School Edition on Saturday, April 20 at Stopher Gymnasium from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. General admission to the event is $20 and ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ student tickets are $10.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">High school bands set to be featured include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">St. James<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Franklin<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Broadmoor<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">McDonogh 35<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Port Allen<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">John Ehret<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Pride of ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Marching Band performs at all home football games, selected away games and in exhibition at selected marching festivals during the fall semester. The ensemble is open to all university students with previous marching band experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/music\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Department of Music<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> hosts a variety of ensembles that perform at athletic events and at concerts on and off campus. It is not necessary to be a music major to join the bands. The department encourages students to learn more about its ensembles and consider auditioning.
