THIBODAUX, La. \u2013 Two ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Mass Communication faculty members, along with two students, will present \u201cLouisiana\u2019s Restoration Generation: The Global Conversation\u201d at Newcastle University in England on Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lecture, sponsored by the Students Against Species Extinction, has been accepted by the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration program and is being featured on the UN program\u2019s website.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lecture will feature ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Mass Communication professors Nicki Boudreaux and Laure Kasovish and students Anne-Morgan Simmons and Elissa Walker.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The hybrid event is set to take place at Newcastle University, England, in the Armstrong Building room 3.38 or online through Zoom from 7 to 8 a.m. CST on March 20, 2025.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The lecture will focus on sharing Louisiana\u2019s land loss crisis on a global stage while also encouraging college students around the world to take up conservation and restoration activities and careers wherever they live. It is part of the Louisiana\u2019s Restoration Generation movement which was launched at the University\u2019s inaugural Coastal Summit last week.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPresenting this campaign to the United Nations is vital to the success of what we are doing as ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ students to bring together young adults like us around the world who are passionate about saving our homes,\u201d said Elissa Walker, mass communication senior. \u201cBeing recognized as a project by the UN was our ultimate goal, and we achieved it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Louisiana\u2019s Restoration Generation project is part of the Mass Communication department\u2019s Nancy Sanderson Matherne Institute on Global Communication.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
