Salaries and Salary Administration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name=\"top\"><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"#3.5.1\">3.5.1 Initial Appointment<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#3.5.2\">3.5.2 Continuing Appointments<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><a href=\"#3.5.2.1\">3.5.2.1 Salary Adjustments for Degrees<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><a href=\"#3.5.2.2\">3.5.2.2 Equity Adjustments<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#3.5.3\">3.5.3 Salary Administration and the Salary Pool<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#3.5.4\">3.5.4 Salary and Pay Day<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#3.5.5\">3.5.5 Summer Teaching<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the purposes of this Manual, \u201csalary\u201d means the dollar amount specified on appointments of employment. The President is responsible for approving the salaries and salary adjustments and increases as determined by the appropriate Vice President and based upon recommendations of appropriate supervisors.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"3.5.1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>3.5.1 Initial Appointment<\/h3>\n<p>Salaries for administrative staff in their initial year of appointment shall be determined in accordance with Board of Supervisors guidelines. Unclassified personnel whose employment is being changed from a nine\u2013month to a twelve\u2013month basis may be offered a salary consistent with similar positions at the institution or at similar Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) institutions. Any employee whose status changes from a twelve\u2013month to a nine\u2013month salary basis shall be offered a salary consistent with similar positions at the institution, at similar SREB institutions, or as approved by the Board. This policy applies to administrative position changes only.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#top\">Back to Top<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"3.5.2\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>3.5.2 Continuing Appointments<\/h3>\n<p>Salaries for administrative staff in other than their initial year of appointment shall be determined by the President in accordance with the following guidelines:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#top\">Back to Top<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"3.5.2.1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"padding-left: 30px\">3.5.2.1 Salary Adjustments for Degrees<\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ encourages unclassified, non\u2013faculty employees to better themselves educationally. Besides the providing of educational leave and tuition exemptions, this encouragement also extends to salary adjustments. As of the adoption of this <i>Manual<\/i> the following policy shall apply regarding salary adjustments for degrees:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul style=\"padding-left: 30px\">\n<li>Baccalaureate degree: $500<\/li>\n<li>Master\u2019s Degree in a supervisor\u2013approved, job\u2013related field: $1000<\/li>\n<li>Terminal degree (other than a Ph.D.) in a supervisor\u2013approved, job\u2013related field: $1000<\/li>\n<li>Ph.D. in a supervisor\u2013approved, job\u2013related field: $1000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">These salary adjustments become a part of the employee\u2019s base pay in subsequent years. These adjustments will be made on the next contract following the date of the completion of the degree; it is the responsibility of the employee to provide documentation to this effect.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><a href=\"#top\">Back to Top<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><a name=\"3.5.2.2\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"padding-left: 30px\">3.5.2.2 Equity Adjustments<\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">Based upon recommendations from the appropriate supervisors and in consideration of the availability of funds, the President may authorize salary adjustments for continuing staff members whose salaries are demonstrably below average salaries as identified in reports such as those by SREB (Southern Regional Education Board) and other agencies, and\/or comparisons with Board of Supervisors peer institutions and\/or analysis of the staffing pattern of a department or college.
