<\/a> 3.6.1.1 Definitions<\/a><\/p>\n 3.6.1.2 Crisis Leave for Employees<\/a><\/p>\n 3.6.1.3 Crisis Leave Procedure<\/a><\/p>\n 3.6.2 Shared Sick Leave Pool<\/a><\/p>\n 3.6.2.1 Definitions<\/a><\/p>\n 3.6.2.2 Policy<\/a><\/p>\n 3.6.2.3 Procedure<\/a><\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n The Crisis Leave Program is established and approved by the State Civil Service Commission, in accordance with Civil Service Rule 11.34, Crisis Leave Pool.<\/p>\n This policy and procedure outlines the method for participating in the Crisis Leave Program for classified and unclassified employees who are eligible to earn annual leave. The Program\u2019s intent is to provide assistance to employees who, through no fault of their own, have insufficient appropriate accrued leave to cover the crisis leave period.<\/p>\n The Crisis Leave Program is a means of providing paid leave to an eligible employee who has experienced a catastrophic illness or injury to themselves or eligible family member. An employee using leave from a crisis leave pool shall receive leave in sufficient quantity to ensure his\/her wage replacement is 75% of the pay he would receive in regularly scheduled work week.\u00a0\u00a0 The Crisis Leave Pool consists of leave hours donated and used, and is based on the fiscal year, July 1st<\/sup> \u2013 June 30th<\/sup> of the following year.<\/p>\n Back to Top<\/a><\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 any period of incapacity or treatment in connection with or consequent to inpatient care (i.e., an overnight stay) in a hospital, hospice, or residential medical care facility;<\/p>\n o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 any period of incapacity requiring absence from work, school, or other regular daily activities of more than three calendar days, that also involves continuing treatment by (or under supervision of) a health care provider;<\/p>\n o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 continuing treatment by (or under supervision of) a health care provider for a chronic or long-term health condition that is incurable or so serious that, if not treated, would likely result in a period of incapacity of more than three calendar days.<\/p>\n Back to Top<\/a><\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n Crisis Leave shall be applied for by the employee and may be taken only when recommended by the Review Committee and approved by the University President or his\/her designee. The supervising LMSP must provide written documentation of the need for leave. The Review Committee may choose to require an opinion from another provider, especially for extended leaves.<\/p>\n To be eligible to participate in the Crisis Leave Program, an employee shall:<\/p>\n Leave donating participants shall retain three (3) days of accrued annual leave at all times for personal use. Employees shall not be permitted to donate to the Program if they have fewer than 3 days (24 hours) of annual leave. No employee who participates in the Program may contribute more than thirty (30) days (240 hours) of their accrued annual leave each fiscal year.<\/p>\n Employees who use annual leave from the Crisis Leave Pool shall not be expected to pay it back. Donations to the pool are irrevocable.<\/p>\n Donations to the Crisis Leave Pool come from a participating employee\u2019s \u201cannual\u201d leave only. Accrued \u201csick\u201d and \u201ccompensatory\u201d leave donations to the Crisis Leave Program\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 are not permitted.<\/p>\n Donations shall only be allowed to the Crisis Leave Program pool and not to an individual participating employee.<\/p>\n ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ limits the number of days a participating employee or employees can draw from the Crisis Leave Pool to 30 days (240 hours) per fiscal year, and is limited to 100 days (800 hours) per employee for total participation in the Crisis Leave Program.<\/p>\n Days\/hours shall be transferred from the pool as they are used.<\/p>\n Employees receiving workers\u2019 compensation or benefits from a long-term disability insurance policy are not eligible to withdraw leave from the pool.<\/p>\n Unclassified employees may draw only from one of the pools (Crisis Leave Pool or Shared Sick Leave Pool) per fiscal year.<\/p>\n Back to Top<\/a><\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n Back to Top<\/a><\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n The Shared Sick Leave Pool was established and approved by the University of Louisiana System, Board Rules Chapter-Faculty and Staff, PPM Number FS-III.XXII.-1, effective September 24, 1999, Shared Sick Leave Program.<\/p>\n This policy and procedure outlines the method for participating in the Shared Sick Leave Program that complies with System management for faculty and unclassified staff who are eligible to earn sick leave. The Program\u2019s intent is to provide assistance to employees who have insufficient appropriate accrued leave to cover a serious health condition as defined by the FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act). The policy is designed to assist an employee\u2019s return to the workplace, not substitute for a long-term disability insurance policy. Donations to the pool are irrevocable.<\/p>\n Donations come from a participating employee\u2019s accrued \u201csick\u201d leave only.
