Communications Intern

The Water Institute of the Gulf is seeking a part-time (average 15 hours per week) Communications Intern to assist in internal and external communications. This position works closely with, and reports to, the Director of Communications.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates, designs, and sends out weekly internal newsletter
  • Contributes to the upkeep of the Institute website and social media when requested by Director of Communications
  • Helps with the preparation and formatting of grant proposal materials
  • Provides staffing and help with set up and break down for events
  • Assembles packets of information on request for external or internal communications
  • Assists with photography and writing for promotional materials
  • Updates the Institute’s photo sharing site
  • Maintains running list of publications, media mentions, and press releases
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of Word, basic internet, and social media
  • Strong time management skills, highly organized, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Pursing college/university degree in related field
  • Graphic capabilities a plus
