Here’s a spotlight on some of our thriving alumni:

Lawrence "Sonny" Albarado (1973)

Sonny Albarado was the 2012-2013 national president of the Society forÌýProfessional Journalists, which promotes excellence in journalism andÌýdefends First Amendment freedoms. It has 8,500 members in almostÌý300 chapters across the nation. He has been projects editor of TheÌýArkansas Democrat-Gazette since 2007.

Joey Kennedy

Joey Kennedy is the 1991 Pulitzer Prize winner for editorial writing, Birmingham News.ÌýKennedy soon became back-page columnist for B-Metro magazine, and investors helped him and his wife start a website, .

Cory Melancon Haik (2000)

Cory Haik is publisher of ; staff member of Seattle Times when it won Pulitzer Prize in 2010 and of the Times-Picayune when it won two Pulitzers in 2006 (all for digital journalism); and named one of the world’s top 50 female innovators in digital journalism by journalism.co.uk.

Tresha Mabile (1989)

Tresha Mabile is a journalist and independent documentary filmmakerÌýwho specializes in reporting from conflict zones. Her work has aired onÌýNational Geographic,Discovery, CNN, A&E and the History Channel. InÌýthe past decade she has traveled to the front lines of Iraq, AfghanistanÌýand Pakistan to produce five documentaries on Iraq and Afghanistan. .

“ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ educates in a community atmosphere that nurtures and builds self-esteem, but also turns out competitive, action-oriented graduates. In my experience, ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ was the bridge between small-town life and many worldwide opportunities that await any graduate.”

Fabrice Pierre (1997)

Fabrice Pierre is an award winner at the Cannes Film Festival.

Mark D. Plaisance (1983)

Successfully argued Miller Montgomery v. State of Louisiana before the U.S. Supreme Court in fall 2015.

Tony Poon (2010)

Tony Poon worked in Hong Kong at DJI, the leader in manufacturing drones, as a pilot and videographer

Ken Wells (1971)

Ken Wells, runner-up for the Pulitzer Prize in reporting in 1982, hasÌýwritten five novels and three books of non-fiction. He was with TheÌýWall Street Journal for 25 years, first as a reporter and feature writerÌýand then for many years as a Page One editor. He is currently with anÌýinvestigative unit of Bloomberg News and often writes for BloombergÌýBusinessweek.
