Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for sports and a knack for creativity? WGNO Sports is looking for a Sports Producer to become a key player in our dedicated team. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for a journalist eager to make strides in the sports broadcast industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Team Collaboration: Work with a talented team to produce engaging content for our one-hour Friday Night Football franchise, Friday Night Sports show, weekly Sportszone show, and daily sportscasts.
  • Coverage: Dive into the world of Saints, Pelicans, Zurich Classic, Tulane Green Wave, LSU Tigers, and the SEC!
  • Content Creation: Research, write, shoot, and edit stories for multiple platforms in a clear, engaging, and meaningful manner for sports enthusiasts.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that all sports content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
  • Responds to breaking sports events and other urgent newsroom situations as required.
  • Works closely with the sports team to develop and produce comprehensive sports coverage and special sports programming.
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Writes stories for the website and other digital platforms.
  • Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Ìý

Requirements & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sports and sports related activities
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Flexibility to work any shift.
