Director of Content & Digital Communications

Reports To:Senior Vice President of Marketing

The Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) Director of Content & Digital Communications leads and executes the production, editing, and strategic alignment of all organizational communications, including digital and print materials, social media, media relations, and speeches.

Responsibilities

Social Media Management – 40%

  • Develop and maintain annual content calendar for BRAC and Better in BTR social media accounts including Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok
  • Design compelling images, graphics, and basic videos optimized for various social media platforms
  • Collaborate with design team for more complex graphic creation
  • Post content and images according to schedule
  • Monitor social media communities and implement digital audits to develop, track, and report on KPIs and strategy recommendations
  • Engage with partner accounts and posts on behalf of BRAC and Better in BTR as appropriate
  • Maintain expertise in social media marketing techniques and economic development best practices and serves as resource for BRAC staff

Content Development & Management – 40%

  • Develop and create a variety of engaging content formats including social media posts (text, image captions, short-form video scripts), website copy (landing pages, news articles, program descriptions), email marketing content (newsletters, announcements), speeches, and presentations
  • Draft and/or edit news releases, event briefings, talking points, and assist the departments in filling out surveys, speech writing, editing copy, etc.
  • Develop and maintain monthly communications calendar, managing email communications, press releases, report releases, etc.
  • Conduct research and interviews as needed to gather information and develop accurate and informative content
  • Serve as an editor for BRAC stakeholder communications as needed, providing guidance, content development, and proofing expertise
  • Maintain and update website content regularly for BRAC and Better in BTR

Communications Management & Public Relations Duties – 10%

  • Serve as organization’s media contact
  • Manage organizational announcements and announcement events with companies, localities/REDOs, and governmental agencies, maintaining clear and regular communication with all stakeholders
  • Manage and monitor press interviews with BRAC staff
  • Monitor regional news articles and forward critical issue articles to BRAC management and other appropriate staff

Other Duties – 10%

  • Support department activities as needed (e.g. staffing events)
  • Manage content and assets, in conjunction with other marketing team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of marketing, communications, and/or public relations experience
  • Exceptional written communication skills with a proven ability to produce clear, concise, and engaging content quickly for various digital platforms, including website copy, social media, and email marketing
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt writing style to different audiences and platforms
  • Considerable knowledge of general marketing, social media, collateral development, website management and communications techniques is key
  • Basic understanding of economic development principles and state and local government programs
  • Considerable and successful experience in developing and implementing effective communications strategies
  • Excellent project management and deadline management skills
  • Strong analytical skills for measuring and optimizing marketing effectiveness
  • Ability to lift 30-40 lbs.
